DEXTER A Taco Bell opened recently on Business Highway 60 West.

The restaurant seats about 78 people and employs about 50. The restaurant is the seventh built by Hutson Enterprises based at Farmington, which also owns facilities at Cape Girardeau, Farmington, Poplar Bluff, Sikeston, and Marion and Mount Vernon, Ill.

Proceeds from the Southeast Missouri Continuity of Care Association seminar held at Drury Lodge in November went to needy families in Poplar Bluff, Scott City, Perryville, Sikeston and Oran.

The association is designed to increase awareness of regional programs and enhance coordination of services to foster continuity of care in the health field.

The Cape Girardeau County Board of Realtors will hold its monthly meeting Tuesday at Mr. B's, The Gathering Place.

Certificates of appreciation will be presented to last year's officers and committee chairmen during the 8:30 a.m. meeting.

ST. LOUIS Mercantile Bancorporation Inc. posted a 27.7 percent increase in net income in 1992.

Mercantile's net income was a record $85,003,000, up from 1991 income of $66,555,500. Per-share net income reached $4.36, 13.2 percent above the $3.85 per share earned in 1991.

"Mercantile achieved consistent earnings growth in line with the 1992 plan," said Thomas H. Jacobsen, Mercantile's chairman and chief executive officer. "And the corporation continued to make improvements in overall asset quality during the year."

Mercantile's fourth quarter net income was $22.6 million, representing a 25.6 percent increase over earnings of just over $18 million in 1991.

ST. LOUIS - Anheuser-Busch Inc. established an industry record by selling 86.8 million barrels of beer in 1992, the company reported.

The company also increased its sales lead within the industry, claiming 44.2 percent of total brewing industry sales in the United States, according to reports provided by the Beer Institute. The total includes imports.

1992 beer sales were 809,000 barrels more than in 1991, said August A. Busch III, chairman of the board and president of Anheuser-Busch Cos. Inc. The increase is about three times the rate of growth estimated for the brewing industry in 1992, the company said.

Anheuser-Busch has led the brewing industry in sales volume and market share every year since 1957, and has increased its market-share lead over its nearest competitor for 14 consecutive years, company officials said.

KANSAS CITY Commerce Bancshares Inc. announced earnings for the 12 months ending Dec. 31 of $71.7 million, an increase of 19.9 percent over the $59.8 million for the same period of 1991.

Per-share earnings for the year were $3.66 compared to $3.17 for 1991.

Net income for the quarter ended Dec. 31 was $18.3 million, an increase of 19.2 percent. Totals for the same quarter of 1991 were $15.3 million.

Commerce Bancshares Inc., a bank holding company, has a facility in Cape Girardeau.
