__IMO’S PIZZA OPENS IN SCOTT CITY, PERRYVILLE__
A new Imo’s Pizza Parlor opened inside the Rhodes 101 Travel Center at 3508 Nash Road in Scott City. The 4,000-square-foot facility is managed by Jenny Powers and offers a complete Imo’s menu. Dine-in and carry-out are available. In the future, alcohol will be sold there by the drink. Imo’s also opened Sept. 21 inside the Rhodes 101 Convenience Store at 2020 Lake Drive near Interstate 55 in Perryville, Missouri. The 2,000-square-foot store offers the complete Imo’s menu except for pasta. It has sit-down and carry-out service, but no delivery service at this time. Like the Scott City location, it eventually will sell alcohol by the drink. Lorraine Zahn is manager of the Imo’s in Perryville.
__FIRST STATE BANK ACQUIRES MONTGOMERY IN DEXTER__
DEXTER, Mo. — First State Bank & Trust Co. Inc. announced the forthcoming branch acquisition of Montgomery Bank of Dexter, 140 S. Walnut St. The sale is expected to be finalized in January, according to a news release. More information about the acquisition will be announced at a later date, the release said.
__CHATEAU GIRARDEAU PLANS NEW HOUSING OPTIONS__
A ground-breaking ceremony was held at The Chateau Girardeau Estates on Sept. 1 to mark the start of construction on seven new estate homes. The Chateau is partnering with Columbia Construction on the expansion of the homes, which are expected to be complete in summer 2017, according to a news release. Additionally, Chateau announced an agreement with Dalhousie LLC on an option to acquire real estate and develop a new senior living campus. With the proposed name The Chateau Girardeau at Ramsay’s Run, the multi-acre site will be on Bloomfield Road, just north of Dalhousie Golf Club. The development is in planning stages. “We are currently in the process of a due diligence and feasibility period, with viability to be determined within 12 months,” Keith Boeller, president and CEO of Chateau Girardeau, said in an email. After that 12-month period, Boeller said, construction could begin immediately. In the preliminary designs, there are 44 single-family lots, 36 multifamily units and two apartment structures. The development is estimated at 250,000 to 300,000 square feet, Boeller said, on a 45- to 60-acre campus. The development will be owned and operated by Chateau Girardeau and will include products, services and amenities from Dalhousie.
__P.B. CITY HALL RELOCATES__
POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. — Poplar Bluff City Hall moved on Sept. 16 after nearly 26 years in its Second Street location. City manager Mark Massingham made an announcement about the move during a brief city council meeting on Sept. 5, the Daily American Republic reported. Members of city administration, planning, finance, personnel and city court relocated to 501 Vine St. This included 14 city employees. The new offices reopened Sept. 19 in the 4,500-square-foot building at Vine and Fifth streets. The move is meant to be temporary, as the city plans to build a new police department and city hall, according to the DAR. Plans are for new city hall and police department buildings to be constructed on Second Street after portions of the current building are demolished. The council voted in August to rent the Vine Street building from Southern Bank. City court hearings, council meetings and committee meetings will continue to be held at the old city hall for the foreseeable future, Massingham said.

Wood & Huston Bank announced an independent ratings firm, Deposits Online LLC, has ranked it as one of the top 100 healthiest banks in the United States. Deposits Online is an independent financial information services firm that annually analyzes all 14,000 federally insured banks and credit unions across America. It analyzed and graded banks on factors such as capitalization, deposit growth and loan-to-reserve ratios to determine a health score. Wood & Huston ranked in the top 100 with an A+ health rating.

OLD APPLETON, Mo. — Hull Trucking Inc. of Old Appleton was presented a Platinum Award from Great West Casualty Co. and CM Brown & Associates Inc. as part of the 2015 National Safety Awards Program. The National Safety Awards program recognizes motor carriers in similar operations (truckload and less than truckload) with awards based on their year-end preventable crash results, according to a news release. __ROBINSON RECOGNIZED AS TOP CONTRACTOR__
PERRYVILLE, Mo. — Robinson Construction Co. was recognized by Engineering News-Record as one of the top contractors in the Midwest for the fourth consecutive year, also earning a first-time ranking as a top contractor in the Mid-Atlantic region, according to a news release. Based on 2015 revenue for work completed in the Midwest (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Wisconsin), Robinson ranked No. 78 overall and No. 12 in Missouri. In the Mid-Atlantic region (Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, D.C., West Virginia), Robinson snagged the No. 53 spot on the list. ENR is a weekly magazine that provides news, analysis, data and opinion for the construction industry worldwide. The ENR Top Contractors list ranks general contractors, both publicly and privately held, based on construction contracting-specific revenue.
__PHILANTHROPY OWNER TO SELL BUSINESS__
Four years after opening a successful clothing store, Philanthropy owner Bridgett Kielhofner is looking to sell. Since opening the store in 2012, Kielhofner has split her time managing the store, assisting with the build out of other Philanthropy franchises and managing her other businesses. Ultimately, she decided she was not spending as much time in the store and with her customers as she would like. “A new owner will be able to not only focus on local charity work,” she said, “but also be able to love on all the friends and visitors that shop with us.” Philanthropy is a women’s clothing and accessories boutique with a Christian message and a mission of giving back. Ten percent of each sale is given to charity. The store opened on Broadway in downtown Cape Girardeau in 2012. In 2015, it moved to Mount Auburn Road, between Brown’s Shoe Fit Co. and Belladona Salon. At least three new Philanthropy stores are expected to open in 2017, and Kielhofner has an opportunity for a full-time position with the corporate office after the next round of buildouts.

__COFFEE SHOP OPENS IN SCOTT CITY__
Danny and Teresa Holder and their daughter, Courtney Holder, opened Coffee ‘N’ More, a new shop serving a variety of coffees, cookies and pastries on Main Street in Scott City. For more than nine years, the Holders have run the business as an office coffee-delivery service, transporting a variety of coffee, janitorial and restaurant supplies to offices within a 125-mile radius of their home base in Scott City. Courtney oversees most of the day-to-day operations at the coffee shop, while Teresa continues the delivery service. When Danny retires from his construction job this fall, he will join his daughter in the shop.
__MENARDS OPENS IN FARMINGTON__
FARMINGTON, Mo. — Menards opened in mid-September at 1280 Maple St., the Farmington Press reported. The 207,851-square foot store is a new prototype for the company, called an “extended mezz prototype-five” store, with a mezzanine across the center of the store, according to general manager Chris Matz, who has worked for Menards since 2003. The store also has a 42,352-square-foot lumber warehouse with an upstairs and downstairs.
__HOME-BASED BREWERY OPENS IN CAPE__
Bushwacker Beverage Co. is a home-based contract brewery owned by Matt E. Busch in Cape Girardeau. The business is expected to begin operations in December.
__NEW RESTAURANT COMING TO BROADWAY__
Dexter Queen, 1027 Broadway in Cape Girardeau, is a fast-casual barbecue and ice cream restaurant owned by Lori Hawkins. The business was bought from Sam Alsmadi, who operated it as Mediterranean on Broadway. The anticipated opening date is Nov. 1. The business currently is operating as a food truck in Cape Girardeau.
__HOLIDAY INN BREAKS GROUND FOR NEW HOTEL__
PERRYVILLE, Mo. — A ground-breaking was held Sept. 19 for the new Holiday Inn Express and Suites in Perryville, the Republic-Monitor reported. Midwest Lodging executives said the hotel will be four stories tall with 75 rooms, 18 suites and a large conference room. The plan is for the hotel to be open in time for the solar eclipse happening in August 2017.
__GO FISH! TROPICAL OPENS IN CAPE__
Catherine and Rodney Stovall opened Go Fish! Tropical at 5 S. Henderson St. in Cape Girardeau. The store sells a variety of fish not normally seen in the region, as well as the necessary accouterments. In the past, Rodney Stovall’s grandparents owned A&S Tropical, a long-standing exotic pet store on Broadway in Cape Girardeau.

Little Kitchen, 1036 N. Sprigg St. in Cape Girardeau, is a restaurant owned by CHK International LLC. It was expected to open in September.
__SEMO READY MIX EXPANDS IN SIKESTON__
SIKESTON, Mo. — A regional ready mix company has acquired additional property in Sikeston to expand their operations, the Sikeston Standard Democrat reported. Tom Kelsey, commercial broker at Lorimont Place Ltd., announced SEMO Ready Mix has acquired 12.3 acres adjacent to their present batch plant at 955 School St. in Sikeston. The newly purchased property also contains approximately 70,000 square feet of various industrial buildings. The property was formerly owned and occupied by Nova Brik, a veneer masonry brick manufacturer that ceased operations in Sikeston a few years ago. SEMO Ready Mix operates seven permanent locations in Southeast Missouri and two mobile plants. They also own and operate six ready mix concrete plants in northern Arkansas under the Near Ready Mix name. Steve Obermann began as an employee of SEMO Ready Mix and worked in various roles until 2007, until he and his wife, Tammy, purchased the company. Kelsey said the property acquisition will enable them to have more land for future expansion.
__HARBOR FREIGHT, OTHERS TO OPEN ON WESTWOOD__
POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. — Opening dates for a new retailer and a new restaurant have been set for this year, while the names of tenants for a new shopping area on Westwood Boulevard in Poplar Bluff have been released, the Daily American Republic reported. Harbor Freight Tools will take over a portion of the former Country Mart in the Poplar Bluff Square Shopping Center, according to company marketing manager Collin Ozar. It will occupy about one-third of the space previously used by the grocery store, and a grand opening is tentatively planned for Dec. 21. The site is expected to employ 35 to 40 full- and part-time workers. City officials say Panda Express plans to open in October at the location currently under construction in front of the Wal-Mart Supercenter. The company has said the business will employ 10 people. LDC Properties expects to begin construction on nearly 12,000 square feet of retail space on Westwood Boulevard, at the former site of Tool-A-Rama. RNR Tire Express and Cricket Wireless are the first tenants for the site, said Steven Carrico, LDC director of real estate. The Shops at 18 Eight will hold three to five businesses to be open by March, he said. LDC also owns the stretch of businesses in front of Wal-Mart, where Rent One is located. Cricket Wireless will open a temporary location there in October until the new site is ready.
__MORE DEVELOPMENT COMING TO POPLAR BLUFF__
POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. — Jim Bailey plans to begin construction this fall on two new tenant retail spots next to Swaffords, the Daily American Republic reported. The spaces will be 2,000 and 1,700 square feet. Additionally, a MetroPCS Wireless will open soon at Valley Plaza, which also will be home to Petco in the future. More announcements will be made later, Bailey said.
