ORAN, Mo. -- Alliance Bank, 1100 Route W in Oran, celebrated the groundbreaking of its new location at West Street and Route W on June 5. The bank's new site is forecast to be completed in December.

Ophelia, a women's clothing and gift boutique at 125 N. Main St. in Cape Girardeau, opened June 4. The store has another location in Farmington, Missouri. A ribbon cutting was held July 1 for the Cape Girardeau store.

Kenco Enterprises, a family-owned and operated provider of landscape and masonry products at 2525 Highway 177 in Cape Girardeau, celebrated its 10-year anniversary.
__KEEP CAPE BEAUTIFUL AWARDS PRESENTED__
Saint Francis Medical Center was awarded the Keep Cape Beautiful Beautification Committee's beautification award for May, and Capaha Bank, 380 N. Kingshighway in Cape Girardeau, was recognized by committee as the Beautiful Property of the Month for June. The Keep Cape Beautiful Beautification Committee is a volunteer board led by the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department. Its goal is to enhance the physical attractiveness of Cape Girardeau.

SIKESTON, Mo. -- The Sikeston Regional Chamber of Commerce held a groundbreaking for Simply Swirled - Seriously Fun Frozen Yogurt. Chris and Pam Lambert and Shane Stewart own the business, which will be at 1189 S. Main St., Suite C in Sikeston. Construction should be completed by late summer.
__ROBINSON CONSTRUCTION RECOGNIZED FOR SAFETY__
PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Robinson Construction Co. was recognized for safe performance on two recent construction projects. Robinson earned the Safety Saves Award from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-Kansas City District for safe performance of work on the elevated water tower project at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. The award was presented by the district commander during a meeting at the base on Jan. 16. Project superintendent John Clutts and Michael Remley, project site safety and health officer, accepted the award on behalf of the company. Robinson also received an Award of Excellence from Nestle Purina PetCare for safe work practices and achieving no reportable injuries for 2013 at Nestle's Bloomfield, Missouri, location. Site superintendent Bruce Gibbar accepted the award from Nestle personnel on Jan. 29.

PARK HILLS, Mo. -- Universal Fitness in Park Hills has a new home at 16 Crane St., the Park Hills Daily Journal reported. The business is a gym specializing in group classes including Zumba, spin, MMA, Brazilian Jujitsu, speed and agility, strength training, women's classes and more, as well as an open gym. Kristel Jones owns the business. A ribbon cutting was held with the Park Hills-Leadington Chamber of Commerce.

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Bluff PowerSports received the 2013 Council of Excellence Award from Honda Financial Services. Out of more than 1,000 participating dealerships, only 135 of these awards were made nationwide.

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- The Greater Poplar Bluff Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting June 17 for the Sugar Shack Drive-In, 10168 Highway 160 in Harviel, Missouri. Cindy Newcomb owns the dine-in, carry-out and drive-thru restaurant, which offers all-American food including burgers, catfish, chili, french fries and more.

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Heaven Sent Resale opened May 15 at 122 S. Kingshighway in Perryville, The Republic-Monitor reported. The store, owned by Mary Frazer, sells clothing, household items, books, knick knacks and more. Half of all proceeds from store sales are donated to charities that help abused and neglected children.

__SHAKERS CLOSES AFTER 10 YEARS__
KENNETT, Mo. -- Shakers closed June 28 after 10 years in business, the Daily Dunklin Democrat reported. Bar owner Kyle Stone has taken a new job as manager of the Caruthersville Country Club.
__STAXX RESTAURANT OPENING IN SCOTT CITY__
Staxx Restaurant opened in late June in the Rhodes 101 Travel Center at Interstate 55 and Nash Road in Scott City, according to a news release from Tom Kelsey, commercial broker for Lorimont Place Ltd., who handled the lease transaction. The restaurant, where Huddle House used to be within the travel center, serves breakfast all day, as well as lunch and dinner. The restaurant partners, Staxx Restaurant Group LLC, have a background in operating IHOP locations, and "much of the IHOP concept will be incorporated into this restaurant," the release said. Huddle House vacated the location months ago after its lease expired, Kelsey said. The property owner, Rhodes 101 Partners LP, remodeled the space, including installing new fixtures and equipment.

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- The U.S. Small Business Administration honored small business owners and SBA lenders for their achievements May 5 to 10 during Small Business Week. The Bank of Missouri was recognized by the SBA for outstanding loan production in the Eastern Missouri District as a top 10 lender, ranking No. 1 in volume with 40 loans, and No. 3 in dollars, loaning $8 million to small businesses. The Bank of Missouri, headquartered in Perryville, has 20 branches in Southeast, Southwest and Central Missouri.

__RERUNS HAS NEW OWNER__
Reruns, a resale store at 110 N. Main St. in Cape Girardeau, switched ownership from Cathy Davis, who retired after owning the store for 25 years, to Pam Deneke. Davis' last day was June 28, and Deneke took over ownership July 1.
