Belladona Salon & Spa opens second store

Belladona Salon & Spa is now open inside City Centre at 2502 Tanner Drive, Suite 101. This new 4,500-square-foot Belladona location focuses on total wellness and uses all-natural products with botanical extracts for the face, hair and body.

Co-owners Becky Davidson and Linda Springs said the second location was needed to better serve their customers as well as provide expanded services. Product lines offered at Belladona in City Centre include Eufora, Ahava and Pevonia Botanica. This location also uses products from Italian company Davines that are from 100 percent naturally derived ingredients and come in reusable containers. Both the City Centre location and the Belladonna Salon & Spa at 201 S. Mount Auburn Road, Suite F carry Jane Iredale skin care makeup.

About a third of the space at the new location is devoted to spa services including a relaxation lounge, couples massage room, individual massage rooms, facial room and full-body mud treatment room with its own private shower. Spa clients may also use the Sunlighten infrared sauna, which heats the body from within, instead of heating the air with steam like traditional saunas. Infrared sauna treatments may help detoxify the body, relieve pain and help with weight loss.

The styling salon area has 12 stations and a hair color bar. The manicure/pedicure area includes six pedicure stations and four nail stations. Belladona has hired about eight new employees to its staff since opening its second salon earlier this month, said Linda Springs, co-owner, makeup artist and color consultant.

Its Mount Auburn Road location, which opened in 2007, continues to carry jewelry, purses and accessories in addition to offering Redkin hair care products and many spa services.

* John's Pharmacy and John's RX are the only pharmacy in the region to offer automated blister card dispensing. The machine fully automates the dispensing of oral solids including pills, tablets, capsules. The machine selects a blister card, counts the right number of the right medication and strength, accurately places each pill in the right blister for each day, seals and labels the card for each patient.

All of this is done in a fraction of the time it takes to complete the same steps by hand and makes prescription errors less likely, said pharmacist John McMullin, president/owner.

The technology will benefit long-term care patients served by John's RX and retail customers who request to have their medications dispensed in blister cards rather than bottles at John's Pharmacy.

Last year, John's Pharmacy became the first independent retail pharmacy in Cape Girardeau to a robotic automated dispensing system. This robot, known as DOSIS L60, automates dispensing into plastic bottles and improves accuracy and efficiency in the retail pharmacy, McMullin said.

"At John's Pharmacy, we built our business on providing fast, personalized service and high-quality patient care, but like many pharmacies in America today, we have more people taking more medications. DOSIS L60 helps us work smarter, not harder, allowing us to focus on the service and care the residents at our facilities receive," McMullin said.

* A Business Continuity and Emergency Preparedness Seminar will be held Nov. 30 at the Drury Lodge in Cape Girardeau. Joplin Chamber of Commerce president Rob O'Brian will discuss the response of Joplin's business community to its devastating May tornado. * Charleston Family Care, 400 South Main St., in Charleston, Mo., has joined Saint Francis Medical Center's group of physician practices, Saint Francis Medical Partners. This established practice is led by Dr. Robert L. Robbins. For more than 40 years, Robbins has been a respected family practitioner in the Charleston community. He received his medical degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, Kirksville, Mo., and completed his internship at Art Center Hospital in Detroit.

* Dee's Gifts and Gift Baskets will open Nov. 19 at 1743 N. Kingshighway in Cape Girardeau. Dee's offers unique gifts and made-to-order baskets. Arrangements are from simple to extravagant. * TAG Truck Center LLC, based in Memphis, Tenn., has purchased Duckett Truck Center Inc.'s six locations in Missouri and Kentucky for $21 million, according to a company news release. In 1982, Paul Duckett started Duckett Truck Center. Duckett grew into one of the busiest Freightliner dealerships in the Midwest, serving Freightliner and Western Star customers in Poplar Bluff, Sikeston, Farmington and Jackson, Missouri as well as in Calvert City, Ky. TAG Truck Center is a family oriented company started when Tommy Earl and Gary Dodson were vice presidents for Barloworld Freightliner. The name TAG is an acronym for Tommy and Gary. Robby Phillips will be vice president/general manager of all of the existing Duckett facilities.

* Old Town Cape has released its 2011 Christmas ornament depicting Hutson's Christmas window. The 2011 ornament is a limited-edition, numbered piece produced by Hestia and is the 15th in a series. The Huston's Christmas window is a long-standing holiday tradition in the community and a point of interest in the Old Town Cape district. Other ornaments available for sale include the Schultz School, the Glenn House, the River Campus, Port Cape Girardeau, the Red House, the Marquette Hotel, Old Lorimier School, Old St. Vincent's Church and a Millennium depiction (fireworks over Old Town Cape). * SoutheastHEALTH has acquired Continental Wound Care, 310 S. Silver Springs Road in Cape Girardeau.

The practice operated by Dr. Laura Holmes and Dr. John Mackel specializes in the evaluation and treatment of chronic or non-healing wounds that have not improved with routine medical management. Dr. Holmes will become the regional director of Wound Care Services at SoutheastHEALTH.

"By becoming a part of SoutheastHEALTH, we will be able to offer expanded services to our patients which has been our vision since we opened Continental in 2006," Holmes said.

Holmes is board-certified in hyperbaric medicine and family medicine. Southeast has relocated its wound care and hyperbaric medicine department to Continental, which will now be known as Southeast Wound and Hyperbaric Medicine. Southeast began serving patients at the new center Oct. 24.
