The Bank of Missouri has created a "Bank of MO on the GO" mobile banking application to help customers manage their accounts from their iPhone and iPod Touch devices.

The GO application allows customers to view account balances and transaction history, perform account transfers and pay bills.

"It's great to say, 'There's an app for that' to our customers when they're looking for simple and convenient banking options," Kristen M. Klaus, senior marketing director for the Bank of Missouri, said in a news release.

Customers can download the application for free from their devices via the iPhone or iPod Touch App Store.

The app works with all account types including checking, certificates of deposit, money markets, loans and lines of credit.

* Former tire location for sale: Best One Tire, an Indiana company that opened a truck retread and auto tire shop at 5308 U.S. 61 in Jackson in 2004, has closed its operations. The property is now on the market for sale or lease, according to Tom Kelsey, commercial broker with Lorimont Place Ltd.

The property includes a 27,600-square-foot building built on 5.2 acres. Kelsey said the property would be suitable for a variety of business uses. It has two large drive-in truck shop areas, a six-bay auto shop, showroom, offices and warehouse areas with two loading docks. The Lorimont website listed a $2.2 million asking price for the building and real estate.

Kelsey said he is using local and outreach marketing strategies in seeking prospective buyers or tenants for the Jackson property. Kelsey is affiliated with the Realtor's Commercial Alliance organization.

* Margarita Mama's owners to open another bar: The Drunken Monkey will open in June at 36 N. Spanish St. in Cape Girardeau.

The new bar will include a pool table and video games, according to a business license application filed with the city.

Owners Benjamin Burch and Alicia Dumbach also own Margarita Mama's on North Main Street. Another downtown Cape Girardeau bar will likely change ownership soon. Earl and Kim Bennett of Jackson are in negotiations to purchase Roxy's Big Country Saloon at 107 N. Main St. Roxy's is owned by John Wyman, who said the sale is still pending.

* Teen Challenge opens berry stand: The Teen Challenge strawberry sales stand in the Schnucks parking lot opened for business Friday. The stand opens at 9 a.m. and closes when all the day's berries are sold, Monday through Saturday based on availability of the berries and weather conditions. Strawberries are priced at $2.50 per quart and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Berries may be reserved at the Teen Challenge center on County Road 621 by calling 335-6508.

* New mail service opens: Premium Regional Mail recently opened at 3589 Highway 25 in Jackson.

It offers presort mail discount services to businesses in the 636 through 639 zip-code service areas. "Mailers will save a minimum of 6 percent, up to 15 percent, on their first-class postage costs by utilizing our services," said owner Mark Guilliams, who also operates Direct Line Marketing in Jackson. Guilliams has been in the printing and mailing industry for 15 years.

In addition to mail services, Premium Regional Mail offers daily courier services in the Southeast Missouri area.

* Ameriprise acquires Columbia Management: Ameriprise Financial Inc. has completed the acquisition of the long-term asset management business of Columbia Management from Bank of America for about $1 billion in cash. Thomas Novak operates an Ameriprise Financial office at 5303 Old Cape Road in Jackson.

* Saint Francis receives Blue Cross designation: Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Missouri has designated Saint Francis Medical Center as a Blue Distinction Center for Cardiac Care. Blue Distinction Centers for Cardiac Care provide a full range of cardiac care services, including inpatient, rehabilitation, catheterization and surgery. To date, Blue Cross and Blue Shield has designated more than 410 Blue Distinction Centers for Cardiac Care across the country. Saint Francis was also recently designated as a Blue Distinction Center for Spine Surgery and a Blue Distinction Center for Knee and Hip Replacement. Saint Francis will complete construction in 2011 on a combined Heart Hospital and Cancer Institute, where patients will have access to advanced treatments and technology under one convenient roof.

To make the designations, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield evaluated the range of services in each area of expertise, experience and training of surgeons, quality management programs, clinical pathways and patient involvement in education and shared decision making.
