A Scott County man was sentenced to 6 1/2 years in prison Monday on a federal drug charge. Steven A. A Scott County man was sentenced to 6 1/2 years in prison Monday on a federal drug charge.

Steven A. Lawrence, 40, was sentenced to 78 months in prison for one felony count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

Lawrence admitted that on Jan. 10, he was present at a Sikeston, Mo., residence when law enforcement officers executed a search warrant. Lawrence was searched and officers found 5.8 grams of pure methamphetamine in his pocket along with $1,008.

Lawrence admitted that he received the drugs from an associate with connections in Texas and that the money was proceeds from methamphetamine sales made by Lawrence and his associate.

Also on Monday, in the U.S. District Court located in Cape Girardeau, Connie Floyd, 43, of Sikeston, was sentenced to 45 months in prison on three felony counts of distributing methamphetamine.

Kimberleigh K. Shapiro, also known as Kimberleigh Flowers, 24, of Malden, Mo., was sentenced Monday to 14 months on three counts of distribution of methamphetamine.
