Also sustaining moderate injuries were Ellen Mares, 43, and her passenger Daryl Bates, 46, both of Licking, Mo. They were taken to the same hospital.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Daum's vehicle crossed the center line and struck a vehicle driven by Gerald Schroeder, 62, of Hatley, Wis. Daum's vehicle also struck a vehicle driven by Mares, the patrol said. Schroeder was not injured. Daum was cited for failure to drive on the right side of the road.

The other accident occurred at 10 a.m. Wednesday on Highway 51 at the Chester Bridge in Perry County. Driver Donald Phillips, 35, and Leslie Phillips, 33, both of Chester, were taken to Chester Memorial Hospital.

The highway patrol said the Phillips vehicle was stopped to make a left turn when it was struck in the rear by a vehicle driven by David Nall, 28, of Campbell, Mo. Nall was not injured.
