Man dies from Thursday accident

A Whitewater man died Sunday morning of his injuries from a two-car accident that occurred Thursday, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

James Haynes, 82, died at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

The accident occurred on Highway 34 at Route U, two miles south of Burfordville, at 4:37 p.m. Thursday. According to the highway patrol, Haynes had pulled from a stop sign onto Route U into the path of Daniel Burgess, 19, of Marble Hill, Mo. Burgess' vehicle struck Haynes' vehicle in the side.

Burgess received minor injuries.
