Hot weather for a change
This has certainly been an unusual summer. The second-half of August, however, is poised to bring more typical heat and humidity. The 6-10 day outlook paints us in the red zone for above-average temperatures, something we really haven't seen all summer.
The current forecast calls for temperatures to reach into the low 90s starting Tuesday and lasting until at least the end of next week. Even that isn't so bad considering what August is capable of bringing.
So far this year, we've only had 14 days with temperatures at or above 90°F. Meanwhile, the temperature has never exceeded 95°F all summer.
In contrast, two years ago, when we had multiple heat waves, the mercury reached 90 degrees on 78 totals days. That was the year that we had a brutal stretch of 100° days, including an all-time Cape Girardeau record of 107°F.
So I'm not complaining.
