Weather or Not
In this blog, weather junkies on the Southeast Missourian staff talk about (what else?) the weather. Give us your observations, folk wisdom and Farmers Almanac tales -- it's a weather free for all.
Two ugly words in the forecast: "Widespread frost"

Today's Hazardous Weather Outlook from the National Weather Service at Paducah offers these chilling words:
WIDESPREAD FROST IS EXPECTED TUESDAY NIGHT AND WEDNESDAY NIGHT AS TEMPERATURES DROP INTO THE LOWER TO MIDDLE 30S UNDER MOSTLY CLEAR SKIES AND WITH LIGHT WINDS. SOME LOCATIONS COULD EVEN SEE FREEZING TEMPERATURES FOR A BRIEF PERIOD OF TIME...ESPECIALLY THOSE LOCALES KNOWN TO COOL THAT EXTRA DEGREE OR TWO. PLEASE BE ADVISED OF THIS NEAR CERTAIN FROST EVENT AND ITS POTENTIAL IMPACT GIVEN ALL OF THE AREA ALREADY BEING IN BLOOM.
The low temperature at Cape Girardeau is currently forecast to drop to 34°F Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Of the two nights, the best chance for widespread frost is Wednesday night thanks to lighter winds.
In today's discussion, the Paducah forecasters point out that the computer models have been trending colder over time, suggesting that the temperature could drop even lower this week. It wouldn't take much to deliver a freeze.
