  • I get half dozen a day. I don’t think the government would have time to follow up on all of them. Plus, they use phony local prefixes and area codes so there’s nothing for evidence. But, my wife refuses to take out the house phone, even though nobody ever calls except the scammers. Go figure.

Yeah, given the loss of accurate old-school area code and local prefix means of determining calls - pretty much use call-screening, and don't answer numbers I don't know.

Figure if it's important enough, they'll leave a message.

Even if it's not important to me - still gots to waste time going through the voice-mails left.

Geez, never knew I had so much help available for the student loan and mortgage problems I didn't know I even had - since all were paid on-time and in-full.

Blocking numbers is of limited use - have had many calls from a weird number, only to be called again within the next few minutes from a weird number + 1 - e.g. 123-456-7789, then 123-456-7790.

Too bad there isn't some star(*) function, to backcharge the caller a fee/fine for the inconvenience of calls not wanted...
