Latest "Gone Girl" Movie Trailer Deconstructed;
Cape Locations Appear In Around 50 Seconds
NOTE: In the spreadsheet I compiled this breakout in which appears at the bottom, I flagged which scenes were local or likely local. However, I failed to copy that information over to this blog entry, which was the whole point of this blog. Duhhhh! It is there now. -- BH
This blog is for the Gone Girl and movie geeks who are keenly interested in the upcoming release of the David Fincher film. If you're not interested, then this entry will have zero appeal to you, so don't waste your time or your comments and go away now! Shoo!
The official full-length trailer for "Gone Girl" was released at 11:00 am CST and I have deconstructed the 153-second sneak preview, shot for shot, to see how much of the footage originated locally.
Based on my analysis, over 44 seconds of the trailer was definitely shot locally and another 6.5 second were likely from here. That means up to a third of the sneak preview was filmed in Cape Girardeau and the surrounding area. While that is a few more seconds than the local footage used in the 97-second teaser trailer released in April, percentage-wise it was a drop of about 10% when compared against the overall time. However, in my opinion, it is still a healthy number.
One area location that was played up in this new trailer was the "volunteer center" aka the ballroom at the Drury Lodge. It did not make the teaser trailer, but in today's release I counted 5 different shots or 11 seconds.
As a point of disclosure I was an extra in the movie and you can see snippets of me in this latest trailer. At 1:43 I am looking into the bar with my arm leaning against the door frame trying to get a drink. This was shot quite sometime after midnight and I could have used an adult beverage by this time. You can also see me at 1:46 along with a 100 other locals playing media, rushing an SUV that is exiting the "North Carthage" police station and again at 1:57 to the left of Ben Affleck. I'm wearing a tan vest in both of those scenes.
