GSR Quest Week #7
Brad versus Batman Actors
I was looking through some old forum posts for this blog and came across an entry posted by a friend from college.
Dave was a fellow SEMO grad who majored in Criminal Justice. He spent time in prison - as a corrections officer - and did police training for a couple years in Iraq. He lives in Colorado with his wife Julie.
I remember Dave mimicking Michael Keaton from the first Batman movie in college.
He'd say "I'm Batman" before launching himself off the roof of Houck Field House. Naw, I'm just kidding. Dave was always too calm and collected to do something stupid like that.
Anyhow for this week's GSR challenge I'm competing against the actors who have played Batman.
Some people get very passionate about who is the best Batman. Personally, I'm not that involved in the franchise to care one way or the other.
As a kid, I would watch the TV show with Adam West as the Caped Crusader so I'm a little biased towards him. Sure I know the series was horribly campy, but it was great entertainment to a six year old.
Christian Bale, the current actor playing Batman, seems to be highly regarded by most fans and critics alike. I've seen most of his first movie and from a purely action movie perspective, it's pretty fun.
However, in second place is George Clooney, who a lot of Bat-fanatics apparently despise. One fan -- whose website ranked the actors playing Batman -- said he would spit on Clooney's feet if he had the opportunity.
Not that Clooney would be worried if that did happen. I'm sure he would be wearing shoes and spittle is easy to remove or quick to dry.
I personally like Clooney. He comes across as someone you could have a beer with and doesn't seem to have forgotten his roots even though he comes from a famous family.
However, I do question his taste in female companionship. According to the celebrity notes column in this past Sunday's St. Louis Post Dispatch, George is dating Paris Hilton.
George, buddy, Paris Hilton???!!!
I'm pretty sure if you looked up the word "skank" on wikipedia.com, her photo would be there. Max, your pot-bellied pig - God rest his soul -- had more class than that spoiled hotel heiress.
Your portrayal of Batman I can forgive. Paris Hilton, I cannot.
