GSR Quest Continues:
Brad versus 1970s Cop Shows
As you might know, one of the driving reason for this blog is to rectify the flaw in Google Search Engine for the phrase "Brad Hollerbach."
When I wrote on this topic last week my Google Search Results - GSRs - had more than doubled a mere 3 days after starting this blog.
However, that same day I noticed that my GSRs actually began declining throughout the day. It was like the scene out of Ferris Beuller's Day Off where Ferris hacks into the school computer system and changes the number of days he has missed school right before the principal's eyes. I dropped from 63 to 41 in the course of the afternoon!
I was slightly mortified and more than a little POed by this turn of events. So much for Google's motto, "Don't be evil." (Yes, that is their informal corporate motto. No joke.)
I wonder if they've shortened it from "Don't be evil unless we don't like you and want to screw with your GSRs. Ha Ha!"
I have a theory as to why this loss of GSRs occurs, but as long as Google is screwing with everyone's GSRs equally, I guess I'll be OK with it. It's when they start singling me out, that I might just go Rambo on them.
"There wouldn't be no trouble except for that king s*** search engine! All I wanted was some search results! But the man kept pushing! He kept taking away my search results! They drew first blood, not me!"Anyhow, it annoys the heck out of me, but there is nothing that I can do about it except to keep blogging and do whatever it takes to boost my GSRs.
I decided after creating last week's info graphic that it will be more interesting to have a different set of comparatives each week as I share with you my status report. Change it up a bit. Have a theme, if you will.
This week it is Me versus 1970's TV Cop Shows. You know, all those one named wonders - McCloud, Cannon, Baretta, Kojak.
It's definitely an improvement over last week's massive ego-bruising by Limbaugh and Colbert. I think it's better for me to adjust my goals and warm-up with some smaller targets. My immediate short-term GSR objective is to kick the butt out of Baretta's cockatoo.
Yes, I'm talking about you, Fred. You think you're hot stuff with 1400 GSRs, my fine feathered friend. You probably have some big bird blog. Let me tell you buddy, you better keep your eye on this sparrow, 'cause I'm coming for you and there's nothing Tony can do to stop me.
