Fred Ossick explains to a customer that "there is just no more room in the store at the time." Ossick Shoes, which will close in Cape Girardeau Aug. 15, is conducting a going-out-of business sale, which will continue until the closing date. Ossick has purchased three Fan-Fair Shoe Stores in Atlanta, Georgia, and will move to that city. The photos below show some of the crowd at the store. (Fred Lynch photos)

[In 1970, Fred Ossick purchased Seabaugh's Shoes, a retail outlet at 111 N. Main St. He had been personnel manager for Cutler-Karcher Shoe Co. in St. Louis. The local business was established 19 years earlier by Mr. and Mrs. Norman Seabaugh.]
