The round sofa at Hecht's

Posted Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at 12:00 AM

While waiting to photograph some women modeling furs at Hecht's store on Main Street in August, 1980, I shot a couple of photos of an occupied round sofa in the store.

Today, Hecht's is gone, but the round sofa continues to serve the public.

After a stint at the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri in downtown Cape Girardeau, in 2021 the round sofa is in the lobby of Marquette Tower. Sue Sanders reports the settee has been recovered twice since its duty at Hecht's, where it was affectionately known as the "pouf."
