Frony took lots of pictures of highway scenes around Cape Girardeau. Here is one taken on north Kingshighway that shows the Hillcrest Inn in the 1950s. Fire destroyed the building in 1958. The area was across from the StarVue Drive-In Theater.

Ken Steinhoff has a blog with pictures and history of the Hillcrest here:

  • I went to the StarVue Drive-in with my parents as a kid, and as a teenager on dates, but had no recollection of the Hillcrest Inn until Jeffry Boswell Hawk and her brother, Wayne, shared family photos and stories.

I see that Rueseler Motor Company was using "Rusty" as its logo in the Hillcrest days. Here's a 1966 photo of the the sign on the car dealership on South Kingshighway.
