Frisco train passengers

Posted Monday, December 16, 2013, at 12:00 AM

Dec. 23, 1955 Southeast Missourian

Thirty years ago a crowd at the passenger station waiting for a train was an everyday occurrence, but it has become so unusual that when the photographer saw this group Thursday noon, he couldn't resist the urge to make a record of it. (G.D. Fronabarger photo)

The photo was made at the Frisco passenger station in Cape Girardeau.

  • Fred/Sharon: ? Was the station on the West side of the tracks? Wondering what the spire was in the background; as well as the building down the tracks?

Just curious. Our cub scout pack used to ride the train from sikeston to cape, swim @ Capaha and moms took us back--just trying to remember which side of the tracks the depot was on. thanks, and, Merry Christmas!

The station was on the west side of the tracks. That's the Common Pleas Courthouse spire in the background.

In the blog link above for Frisco Passenger Depot, you'll see a picture of the depot with the Hutson Furniture Co. building to the north.
