Nov. 24, 1989 Southeast Missourian.

Santa Claus leads a parade of admirers young and old through West Park Mall today to officially open the Christmas shopping season in Cape Girardeau. Shopping was reported as brisk in many local retail areas this morning. The day following Thanksgiving is normally the busiest shopping day of the year. (Fred Lynch photo)
