Fast-Draw Contest

A fast-draw contest was one of the events held at the first gun show sponsored by the Cape Girardeau Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Jaycees, Jan. 30-31, 1960 at the Arena Building.

G.D. Fronabarger shot a picture of these contestants.

  • In 1960, there were no knockoff Colt revolvers,bet they were both armed with Colt Single action Model 1873's. Usingthe Colt SAA as an example, I can prove there is no such thing as inflation. In 1873, you could buy a new Colt SAA for a $20 gold piece. You can still buy a new Colt SAA for a $20 gold piece.
