Fred Lynch retired in 2018 after capturing images for the Southeast Missourian since 1975, in that time moving from black-and-white to color, from film to digital and to video. The blog title is a nod to an earlier era of news photography and the 4x5 Speed Graphic: It's more important to be there for the shot than to worry about technical details.

Santa Claus Arrives on Ozark

Santa Claus takes the quick way to travel. Waving from the door of an airliner at Municipal Airport Saturday, Santa greets a number of children gathered to extend the welcome. He boarded a bus to accompany the youngsters back to the downtown area and put in an appearance at the Kroger store on Broadway. I shot one of the most bizarre Santas I've ever seen in Illmo-Scott City in 1966.
