The Puppy Geometric Conundrum
OK - Sweet Pea stole a piece of my heart when she was here. I'm thrilled she's in a wonderful home but I miss her a lot. So, when this wee family came across my computer, not having room, I said "yes." Now I'm learning about puppy geometry.
Background story:
Gidget, the mama, is maybe one and a half years old; Diva, her surviving female puppy and Ralph Waldo, her surviving male puppy, are by now about 8 weeks old, best guess. Last week when I took them to be checked and weighed, Diva weighed 3.75# and RW weighed 3.5#. When found, Gidget weighed 8# - eight pounds!! She now weighs 14# and is a lap dog.

Their story is of abuse compounded by neglect. Their owners had Gidget tied up outside where she whelped 7 puppies without food; I don't know about water: abuse. Neglect came both from owner and a neighbor who knew the peril this family was in but did nothing while 5 puppies died of starvation - the owner(s) were going through a divorce and he didn't want to bother them. So, he let puppies die and almost let Gidget die...
Finally, someone called the Kennett Humane Department. They came out, swooped up mama and her remaining pups, and promptly charged the owners. Little Ralph Waldo almost didn't make it; Diva is just that - she'll resource guard, she'll make sure she gets what she needs - it's the way she's alive. Gidget did what she could but has no more milk to give; thank God the puppies are eating kibble...

Geometry (with apologies to those who really know geometry):
I told a gentleman last week the puppies mostly poop. He laughed and said, yes, just like a baby - he was missing his 7 month old back in TX. Diva and Ralph Waldo also play, run, eat, sleep, poop, pee, play, eat, poop.....

OK - where is the geometry in all this?? You need to see Diva run in the house. I swear, if I could put a marking stylus on her with a string to the center of the circle, she would mark out perfectly round circles which she runs, huffing like a train. Ralph Waldo lives up to his name - he is more philosophical about things, letting her zoom around those circles but chasing her back and forth in a trapezoid like pattern.
Sad story? Yes. Was it the dogs' fault? NOPE. These three were saved, leaving 5 wee pups heavenward. K. sent a plea to Beagle rescues (don't know what dad was but they look and sound pretty Beagle at this point) and now Gidget, Diva and Ralph Waldo are at Silverwalk, giving me giggles and fits every day. I think they all will be small...Gidget is heart worm + (of course); she has begun treatment with antibiotics, etc., and will be fully treated.
Diva and Ralph Waldo? Running circles, trapezoids, pooping, eating, playing, peeing....like all puppies should. The remaining members of this family will live; however, I do not forget those who died because "it may have caused a bother."
