An Abuser is an Abuser
This is a very unpleasant entry, so beware.
On Tuesday, Jan. 25 about 2 PM this past week, a person careened out of a county road onto Rt. D, throwing something out the window as he did so, then running over what was the small male dog he had just thrown. A person behind him in another car witnessed this and backed off, not at first sure what the driver was doing. With horror, as he ran over the dog, she realized what it was and THEN watched him throw another out the window. How many did he kill or leave to die in the cold before getting to Rt. D? She carefully parked her vehicle as the route is very curvy. She rescued the live dog who had landed on the grass. This dog she took to the vet. A miracle - she was fine - no broken bones, no internal injuries. I am happy to report this dog is now adopted and living in a very good home.
The abuser has been reported to the sheriff. If anyone has any information re: someone "getting rid" of small dogs Chihuahua to Bichon size, please contact the authorities. We do not need scum like this in our county or part of the country. I wonder how this person treats children. The entire episode makes me shudder.
If you cannot keep dogs, take them somewhere. Small dogs cannot survive in this cold - perhaps that was his plan. Even larger dogs need more than adequate shelter with plenty of food and water during these temps. But, do not litter the roads with live pups or kittens. TAKE THEM SOMEWHERE - even a church or police station where they will be found quickly - if not to the Humane Society or calling one of the several no kill shelters in the area. There is no, no, no reason or excuse for this callousness toward life. I am very correct in correlating dog or animal abuse with child abuse - there is strong statistical and anecdotal evidence that those persons who abuse animals are either abusing or will abuse children and/or adults. Lives could be at stake - more than the ones he tossed out the window.
