The "AWWWWHH" Factor - Volunteers make it Possible!
The table never was properly set up before people were stopping and wanting to hold puppies. At Petco this past Saturday, the "awwwwh" factor was off the scale as the 5 puppies who had been left in a box at Safe Harbor's Thrift Store made their public debut. These pups were the sweetest, cuddliest pups seen in a long time - and people responded to their "siren" song. Three girls were adopted; the two boys went home together, still awaiting homes at Safe Harbor. There was much discussion, good conversation and a "geez, you had to put them right by the door as we walk in" statement in a tone that said "how can I resist?"
Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary is home to well over 250 cats. Safe Harbor needs volunteers wiling to commit a few hours each week or two to help clean cat rooms (the cats are all free roam within large cat rooms), scoop litter boxes, feed and love on multiple cats. Volunteer applications are available during open hours of 8-11 and 4-6 on weekdays and 8-11am on weekends. All volunteers are oriented and work initially with an experienced volunteer. Better yet - just call - an application could be emailed! If you love animals, can't have one or any more :), come help Safe Harbor take care of cats and kittens - ooohh, now there is another "awwhh" factor. Being a "no-kill" facility means cats and kittens accepted into the program at Safe Harbor are there for life, though being adopted is the best option for all! Each time one is adopted, two are saved: the one adopted and the one for whom there is now room!
And the puppies? They, too, are safe. Somehow, either rescue or homes will be found for those boys. In order to keep saving animals, though, Safe Harbor needs YOUR help. It is time to give back, pass it on! Call 573-243-9823.

You will be glad you did, the felines will most appreciate you and you will revel in the "awwwhh" factor!
