Go out and play!
I am always amused, though not at the dog's expense, at classifieds that say, in essence, "dog needs more room." Most dogs don't; most dogs need more YOU.
Case in point - this afternoon. I need to regularly clean dog crates. It was sunny, beautiful, perfect weather today - so, I take a couple crates out to the driveway.
Oh, ye gods and little fishes, you would have thought I was abandoning the pack who were less than 20 feet away in the breezeway. The howls, barks and yips - and, of course, while I am engaged in my cleaning activity for their benefit, where is the greater number of dogs? Piled up in the breezeway, watching "mom" scrub, wash and then put crates in the sun to finish cleaning and drying. They have over an acre fenced in for them to enjoy but oh, no, "mom" is home and she is not with us - woe are we :(!
I recently saw a video which demonstrated that dogs and two year olds are at about the same understanding level of the same physical signals. Three year old children were able to correctly interpret a more complex signal the dogs and two year olds could not.
"Go outside and play! The weather is great." Nope - they had to watch and monitor to be sure I was ok and still there or who knows what they really were thinking? I love them all.
