MADIGAN WANTS AUDIT IN ORAN

ORAN -- A former member of the Oran Board of Alderman is seeking a state audit to find $11,893 that was reported missing in the most recent city audit. The audit for the fiscal year ending March 31 shows a cash shortage. Walt Madigan, who served on the town board from 1989 to 1992, said he doesn't think anyone took the money. He blames the shortfall on a bookkeeping error...

There was a bit of a ruckus last week as newspapers reported that a new Missouri law designed to update state statutes on sexual relations might -- just might -- outlaw sex in the Show Me State. Right away lawyers started disagreeing about what the new law really says, but once the story was reported there was widespread sniggering and joking about the situation...
