OLMSTED, Ill. -- Edna B. Fox, 80 years old, of Olmsted, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 1990, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Jones Funeral Home of Villa Ridge.

SCOTT CITY -- The Scott City R-1 and Kelso C-7 school districts will sponsor a preschool screening March 5 from 1-6:30 p.m. and March 6 from 9-11:30 a.m. Both screenings will be at the Broadway United Methodist Church here. Children from birth to 4 years of age by July 1, 1990, will receive free screening checkups that include vision, hearing, speech and language, dental and developmental areas...

FREDERICKTOWN -- Jennye Kauffman, an elementary teacher at the Fredericktown School District for the past 33 years, was recently named Outstanding Rural Elementary Teacher by the Missouri Association of Rural Education. Kauffman received the award at the recent Missouri Assocation of Rural Education convention. She was nominated by two Fredericktown School District administrators Dr. Kelly Burlison, director of elementary education, and superintendent Dr. Jerry Kinder...

SCOTT CITY - Southeast Missouri Regional Port Authority Executive Director Allan Maki says he is anticipating some good numbers this morning when bids are opened for the first phase of construction of a rail spur into the port. Maki said there the fact that 32 companies have requested plans and 22 firms were represented at a pre-bid conference last Wednesday, leads him to believe there should be some good, competitive bids today...

CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Christine E. Klueppel, of Cape Girardeau, has received a President's Scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University next fall. The scholarship is awarded to high school seniors who have a combined high-school-rank percentile and test-score percentile of 160. The scholarship is worth $700 per academic year and is renewable for up to four years...

CAPE GIRARDEAU -- The Cape Girardeau County Christian Women's Club will hold its second Guest Night Feb. 15 at Holiday Inn. ORAN -- The sophomore class at Oran High School will sponsor a spaghetti supper on Thursday, Feb. 21 from 4:30 -7:30 p.m. at the Oran High School Cafeteria. The supper includes spaghetti, garlic bread, desert and a drink. The cost is $3 for adults and $2 for children age 6 and under...

CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Duplicate bridge players from Cape Girardeau won the first of three challenge matches in a tournament held in Sikeston Jan. 21. Other cities represented were Sikeston, Charleston, Dexter and Malden. The Cape team posted a winning percentage of 54.5 percent, edging out the second place Charleston team, who had an average of 54.5 percent...

CAPE GIRARDEAU - Southeast Missouri Hospital will unveil its new building addition and the hospital's recently completed MRImaging Center at an open house Sunday. The open house is scheduled from 2-4 p.m. and will feature tours of both the new north addition to the Harrison Annex and the magnetic resonance imaging center.
