TEAM UP FOR TRIVIA

A Trivia Night to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will be held on Friday November 30, 2012 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Jackson. Doors will open at 6 PM and trivia will begin at 7 PM. The cost is $20/ person and teams will consist of 8 players. Snacks and drinks will be available.

Since 1988, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Team In Training athletes have raised more the $750 million for the cause. The money raised through The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has led to major advances in cancer treatment, including chemotherapy and the development of new targeted therapies that improve the effectiveness of treatment without doing damage to healthy parts of the body. Contributions are also used to improve patient services with financial assistance, support groups and educational opportunities for blood cancer patients, their family and friends and their medical providers. Many of these advancements and programs are not only helping blood cancer patients, but ALL cancer patients.

Every four minutes, someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer. Every 10 minutes, someone loses their battle. Leukemia kills more children under the age of 20 than any other disease, and it strikes 10 times as many adults as it does children. Thanks to research supported by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society overall survival rates for the disease have more than doubled in the last 30 years. We hope that future research will help in finding a cure for leukemia, so other families do not have to go through what mine did.

I will be participating as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Team In Training Team in the Walt Disney World Marathon in January in memory of my mom, Linda Mittrucker who lost her battle to Leukemia in June. For more information please visit:
