Alma Schrader recognized for 2nd national award

The Cape Girardeau Public School Board, during its November monthly meeting, recognized Alma Schrader Elementary School staff and students for their second national award from Character Education Partnership. This year's award was for the school's anti-bullying program. Last year the school was lauded for its Constitution Day program. "Principal Ruth Ann Orr and Counselor Julia Unnerstall bring pride to the community and honor to its heroes every year through their Constitution Day program," said Superintendent Jim Welker. "They have again received national recognition, and it's richly deserved." In the photo above, students who were responsible for organizing and implementing the anti-bullying program pose with Alma Schrader faculty and district administrators. The students are wearing anti-bullying t-shirts which they designed. Pictured from the left, front row, are McKensi Williams, Kareem Shaheen, Grace Sanders, Samuel Reazer, and Jack Maxton. Back row: Superintendent Dr. Jim Welker, Literacy Specialist Susan Reinagel, Music Teacher Rebecca Gentry, Guidance Counselor Julia Unnerstall, Principal Ruth Ann Orr, and Cape School Board President Stacy Kinder.
