Grand opening set for Sowers' field office

Thursday, August 19, 2010

Tommy Sowers, democratic candidate for Missouri's U.S. House of Representatives 8th district seat, will hold a grand opening for his new field office at 5 p.m. Sunday at 1105 Broadway in Cape Girardeau. Sowers will greet supporters and volunteers to update them on his campaign following a ribbon cutting ceremony. The building was previously home to Rhea Optical and will serve as a local campaign headquarters through the Nov. 2 general election. The site was chosen in part for its proximity to Southeast Missouri State University, where a Students for Sowers group has formed to help with voter outreach efforts including phone banking and going door to door, said Christie Cunningham, communications director for the Sowers campaign. This week, Sowers has opened campaign offices in West Plains, Dexter and Farmington. The campaign also has offices in Rolla and Poplar Bluff.
