Jerry Willis, a cyclist who has diabetes, rode a stationary bike as he talked to children at Camp DAY Break at HealthPoint Fitness in Jackson on Thursday, July 29. Camp DAY Break is a two-day summer camp for children with Type 1 diabetes, sponsored by Kohl's Youth Diabetes Care Network, a service of Southeast Missouri Hospital's Diabetes Center. A former runner, Willis was diagnosed with diabetes in his 20s. After a running injury, he started biking. Today, he is a member of Team Type 1, a U.S.-based racing team of cyclists who have diabetes.
