Thanks, P&G

In its 40 years of operation in Cape Girardeau County, the Procter & Gamble plant just north of Trail of Tears State Park has had a huge impact, both on the area's economy and on many worthwhile community endeavors and organizations.

Here are some of the numbers: Opened in 1969, the P&G plant covers 80 acres under roof on 1,311 acres total. There are 1,200 employees with an annual payroll of over $70 million. Since its opening, the plant has been expanded several times. Several related companies nearby provide P&G-related services and additional employment for hundreds more workers.

In addition to being one of the area's largest employers, P&G has been a responsible and committed corporate citizen. In the past 10 years P&G's corporate contribution to the United Way of Southeast Missouri has been more than $1 million, and its employees have donated nearly $1.5 million. Through a variety of other special funds, P&G contributes thousands of dollars each year to organizations and civic groups involved in health, education and the arts. P&G also makes major contributions of its products to victims of poverty and disasters.

Congratulations, P&G, and thanks for all you do to strengthen our communities.
