SEMO ignoring pleas for Indians

To the editor:

It's plain that the powers to be at Southeast Missouri State University are not paying attention. They stated that 800 entries had been made concerning the name change for the Indians. They also stated that 300 of those making suggestions wanted to keep the Indian name. But come hell or high water they are going to change it. They say the Indian label is is offensive to American Indians. I really doubt that. Am I offended because certian ethnic groups call me white eyes, gringo, honky, boco or any other less mentionable names? No. I have too many other problems to worry about to get up in the air over what someone else calls me. Come on, people. Get a life. Leave the SEMO Indians alone.
