Letter to the Editor

Use ballots against Missouri's activist judges

To the editor:I support Gov. Matt Blunt as he seeks to get politics out of Missouri courtrooms. I don't want to end up in a state that allows unelected judges to make laws and raise my taxes. A judge interprets the law, not makes it.

It seems like many of those in Missouri's judicial system need to go back to law school and refresh their memory on this. If we don't stop activist judges now, we could end up like some of our neighbor states that have judge-ordered tax increases.

Voters should remember that they have the power of the ballot box to kick out those who do not understand the true role of a judge. We need to send the message that we will not tolerate judges who step outside their constitutionally defined role.
