Honor Tour

Recently, 30 World War II veterans from Southeast Missouri made an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. They saw some of the usual sites, but the main attraction for this group was the new World War II memorial. It was a wonderful and humbling experience for the vets, mostly in their 80s.

The trip was arranged by Rob Callahan and Tucker Davis of Poplar Bluff, Mo., who were inspired to organize the special visit after seeing on television the impact such a visit had on a group of veterans from Ohio. This was the second Honor Tour for Southeast Missouri veterans, and others are likely to be scheduled.

The trip was made possible by donations from individuals and groups who can think of no finer way to honor those who served during World War II. You can help, too. Send checks to the Stoddard County Development Foundation, P.O. Box 625, Bloomfield, Mo., 63825. Write "Honor Tour" on the memo line of the check.

Your support will be one way to let these veterans know how much their services is appreciated.
