Letter to the Editor

No genetic root for homosexuality

To the editor:

It is with compassion that I respond to the Aug. 24 article "In the open." I precede my remarks with some Web sites for balance: www.narth.com (National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality); www.couragerc.net; www.bridges-across.org/ba/memphis/nicolosi.htm; www.ccli.org (Couple-to-Couple League-Natural Family Planning); www.theologyofthebody.com; www.dads.org.

Commitment is atypical of homosexual relationships among men. Our sexual identity is male or female, not heterosexual or homosexual. Based upon natural law (what God intended: "God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them" -- Genesis 1:27), sexuality is fulfilled only within monogamous marriage. Unfortunately, contraception leads to a temptation that sexual relations outside of marriage can be acceptable, be it natural as in fornication or unnatural as with the same sex.

It is implied living a homosexual/lesbian lifestyle is merely an alternative, and if the desire is there, then you are gay. There is no scientific evidence of a genetic root for homosexuality. Once this fact is realized, causes can be examined, the most common being issues with fathers not able to fulfill their duties, often due in part to dependency to alcohol, drugs, sex or divorce and other unresolved spiritual/emotional wounds.

All for the sacred and Eucharist Heart of Jesus.

All for the sorrowful and immaculate Heart of Mary.

In union with St. Joseph, patron -- Universal Church.
