Real cures use adult stem cells

To the editor:

I'm asking your readers to wonder why most of the health organizations are spending millions to get us to vote for the Missouri stem-cell initiative and most of those opposed are women. If you look at embryonic stem-cell research, the researchers have to harvest eggs from women to do the research. One scientist said it would take 800 million harvested eggs from women to research even one disease. The harvesting of these eggs can lead to death for women. Strokes, kidney failure and liver damage are just a few of the side effects of this harvesting. Funny, not one cure has been found from embryonic stem cells either. The real cures are being done with adult stem cells that cause no harm for the donors, and sometimes even the patient can be the donor so there are no rejection problems.
