Letter to the Editor

Move to Dallas was key to finding a computer job

To the editor:

This is in response to the letter written by Marie Hyten. I personally enjoyed living in Southeast Missouri. Since I have a wife and a 16-month-old daughter I had to find employment someplace. I moved to Dallas with my wife and daughter.

To find good employment in Southeast Missouri one needs to be a part of the old-boys network. When I first moved to Southeast Missouri, I applied for a job at the university as a computer tech. I was turned down because I do not have a degree in computers.

Prior to my Southeast Missouri move, I lived in Chicago and was a computer tech for First National Bank of Chicago.

My wife and I plan to retire in Southeast Missouri, but until then, I suggest that Hyten find a job elsewhere.

When I moved to Dallas, I had a big surprise. I met two graduates of Southeast Missouri State University.
