Incoming Perry County School District 32 superintendent Scott Ireland and his family were given a big Pirate welcome during the Feb. 1 Perryville High School boys' basketball game. Mr. Ireland, his wife Karie and twin sons Trevor (left) and Connor attended the home game against Festus, and the Pirates delivered a 59-45 win. The Irelands were presented with Perry County School District 32 shirts by Superintendent Kevin Dunn, who will retire June 30.

"We really appreciated the welcome," Ireland said. "It was the first time that Connor and Trevor have been to District 32 and they loved it. They've already made new friends."

The boys will enter the seventh grade at Perry County Middle School next year. Mr. Ireland officially begins his duties at District 32 on July 1 upon the retirement of Mr. Dunn.
