Cape Marching Tigers score 2 firsts in 2 states

The Cape Central Marching Tigers Band won first-place in its class division at two marching band festivals in one day, Saturday, September 17, one at Farmington High School and a second at Murphysboro, IL, High School. At Farmington, in addition to having won first-place in its division, the Marching Tigers Band also was awarded best music performance, best visual performance, and best percussion performance. At Murphysboro, in addition to having won first-place in its division, the Marching Tigers Band also was awarded best music performance and best visual performance in its division and was selected as the grand champion in field competition of all of the bands entered in the festival regardless of size. "Our marching band's stellar performance continues a tradition of excellence that has enabled our Cape Central marching band to have won twenty first-place trophies over the past five years," said Dr. Mike Cowan, principal. The Marching Tigers Band is directed by Mr. Neil Casey, Mr. Josh LaMar and Mr. Billy Keys. The Marching Tigers Color Guard is coached by Mrs. Megan Peters. The photograph above taken on September 2 shows the Marching Tigers performing at the new Tiger Stadium to a crowd of over 4,000 fans during the first football game on Cape Central High School turf. This year marks the 100-year celebration of Cape Central High School.
