Jackson High School band members competed April 8 at the Heritage Music Festival in Chicago, Ill. They competed against other high schools from various states. Each group performed two to three pieces for three judges. After the performance, a judge gave a short clinic to the ensemble consisting of comments, critiques, and suggestions for improvement. The percussion ensemble received a Gold rating, the Adjudicator's award for earning a score of 92 or higher and a trophy for having the highest combined score from any one school. The percussion ensemble also earned the "Outstanding Band Group" trophy for having the highest score for the entire festival.
