Beecham is Missouri Outstanding Beginning Teacher

Malissa Beecham, a 4th grade teacher at Franklin Elementary, was recognized as one of Missouri's Outstanding Beginning Teachers during the spring conference of the Missouri Association for Colleges of Teacher Education (MACTE) at Lake Ozark, MO, on April 27th. The award is given to highly effective teachers in their first two years of service, based on evaluations from their college and recommendations from their school district. Beecham, who attended Southeast Missouri State University, received an engraved plaque to display in her classroom. She was also recognized by the Cape Girardeau Public School Board of Education, and is pictured above with Board Member Paul Nenninger and Superintendent Dr. Jim Welker. "This award is only given every two years, so we are very proud of Malissa," said Franklin Principal Dr. Rhonda Dunham.
