Boot-Heel Harley-Davidson Gives To Fallen Soldiers

It's obvious that the folks at Boot Heel HD are doing it right. There are several polar bear runs Saturday. Steer into the dealership Saturday at 1:00 PM and help support Wreaths Across America. We had over 1,700 wreaths donated this year and placed wreaths on every grave at the State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, hung wreaths on the Heroes Way signs and donated wreaths to many veterans families across the bootheel. Although this is not a PGR mission, I encourage all riders who support veterans and their families to stop by the dealership and help kick off our Wreaths Across America campaign for 2011. Thank you Boot Heel HD for your support.

No disrespect to anyone involved. I speak out of ignorance here. As a currently deployed soldier I appreciate all the support that the wonderful citizens of this great nation show. I've got nothing but love for the Patriot Guard escorting my fallen warriors to their final resting place. This story comes off to me as more of a marketing event for a new dealership than an act of giving to our fallen soldiers. Please someone clarify this and to make up for my ignorance on the matter.

First, thanks for bein' out there on the front lines for all of us back here at home. I can tell you ALL bikers support you and your fellow soldiers. I think what you percieve as a marketing ploy is more as a challenge to the biker community to come out and support a group that helps veterans. Bikers are all about supporting two things: soldiers and children. Bootheel is "new" to the community and it needs to show it's out there being a part of it. They know we bikers love to be challenged, and they put up a good one. If they happen to sell a few t-shirts or some extra chrome, I doubt it will be any different than any other day. Bikers are always buying t-shirts and some extra chrome. Bottom line is, this dealership knows how to rally a group for a good cause. You put out a story about a polar bear ride that is like every other polar bear ride, you won't get alot of riders, unless it's sunny and 50 degrees on New Years Day...

Ok. I got it now. My comment was a response to how our troops get bombarded with "military offers" from just about any type of company you can think of. I am thankful for the support that America does show for it's warriors. Many times I question weather these companies are doing these offers as a way to give back to the troops... or using the troops as a marketing tool. Please understand that I'm not accusing this dealership of doing this. I am ingnorant on the issue and I appriciate the further explaination. Hope the ride went well.

As a Vietnam vet it would have been marvelous to have this sort of thing happen back in the late 60s and early 70s for those serving. The apathy and distain felt toward the troops back then was appalling.
