JJHS Lil' Cheerleaders Spread Christmas Cheer

JJHS Cheerleaders and Lil' Cheerleaders spread Christmas cheer by performing at halftime during a basketball game.

All the Jackson Junior High cheerleaders want for Christmas is...CHEER! The JJHS cheerleaders offered a "Lil' Cheerleaders" 3-day clinic for girls in kindergarten through fifth grade, and then the 65 "lil' participants" performed at halftime during a boys' basketball game on December 9th. Wearing their sequined tiaras and jingle bell bracelets, the girls entertained the crowd by tossing candy canes and dancing to a mix of the Chipmunks' "Christmas Don't Be Late," "Santa Baby," and "All I Want for Christmas is You." JJHS Cheer Captain Jordan Johns enjoyed bonding with the younger girls. "I was so proud of their performance during the game," she said. "Even the boys said it was the loudest game this year. Every time they made a basket, the gym was filled with cheers from the little girls." The junior high squad was impressed with how hard the "lil' cheerleaders" worked all week, but their favorite moment was the organized chaos of the girls "launching" the candy canes into the stands. "Seeing how excited the girls were and how everything came together was the reward of all the hard work we put into it," said cheerleader Hannah Gard. The junior high squad and coaches would like to thank all the parents, "lil' cheerleaders," and fans that came out to spread a little "cheer" around!
