Congratulations to Troop 311 Eagle Scout Nicholas Fosse

Nicholas Fosse is the son of Pat and Jane Fosse and brother of Matthew from Jackson.

Nicholas's Eagle Scout project was designing, planning and constructing a brick side walk and a small expanded sitting area on the grounds of the Oliver House Museum in Jackson, Missouri. The sidewalk was approximately thirty two feet in length and was made out of brick that appeared very similar to the existing brick side walks. The sitting area was approximately four feet by eight feet, with both areas being laid in the same running pattern as the existing sidewalks. The plans for both areas were approved for historical integrity and enhancement by the Jackson Heritage Association and The Cape Girardeau Master Gardner's Club.

Four dedicated scouts, my little brother, my father and I made this project possible on some of the hottest days in July of 2009. A total of over 78 hours was spent on designing, planning, and constructing the sidewalk and sitting area.

The brick was donated by Kasten Masonry and the gravel used as the base was donated by Ken Lowes. All of the other supplies were purchased from money I made selling snack at the one hundred mile yard sale.

This project will add beauty to the grounds of the museum, a place for the public to sit, admire and learn about the heirloom plants on the grounds and it will also be nice place to host outside social gatherings.

During my scouting career with Troop 311 my most memorable camping trips were to Louisville KY where we toured the Bowling Green Corvette Plant and camped on the grounds of Mammoth Cave National Park during a winter storm. We camped on the U.S.S. Alabama Battleship in Mobile AL. And my last trip was to sail a boat in the Bahamas at Seabase 2009. The most memorable event was when I was Sr. Patrol Leader and Senator Jason Crowell came to Jackson Missouri for our Troop 311 flag burning ceremony I was able to converse and stand by him. And last but not least were all the week long summer camps at Camp Lewallen and the tent towns we constructed there.
