True love

Sometimes it's better not to ask too many questions when it comes to matter of love.

If you have love to give, or if you are the lucky recipient of love, do you really have to know why? Isn't love perfect all by itself?

Valentine's Day is the holiday we've come to know as the feast of love, the day when sweethearts, young and old, send each other cards and flowers and candy and other tokens of their special feelings for one another.

Leave the history alone. Does it matter that there are no good records of the person we know as St. Valentine? Or that there are perhaps a dozen or more possible saints of that name, including Valentine Juanzaras Gomez, a martyr of the Roman Catholic Church who died in 1936?

Valentine's Day is the a day for serious thoughts about relationships and commitment and showing our sometimes veiled affections for those who mean the most to us.

Leave the serious thoughts about bills and jobs and spats for the other 364 days. One day isn't too much to ask for smelling the flowers that defy winter's bite and tasting the sweetness of true love.
