Perryville CTC students raise money for Toys for Tots

As a Christmas Community Service Project for this year, the

Perryville Area Career and Technology Center raised money to

purchase bicycles for the Toys for Tots Campaign.

"Having done the same project several years ago," said Karen Leible, coordinator of the activity, "and having had great success, we thought we would try it again."

With a goal of six bicycles and a further goal of collecting one dollar per student, students and staff contributed to the project.

"We exceeded our goal," said Leible, "and raised enough money to purchase ten bicycles and a tricycle for Toys for Tots. The students in the morning Health Occupations, Welding and Building Trades classes more than exceeded the one dollar per student goal."

"These students have learned how important it is to be a part of the community they go to school and/or live in," said Leible. Students from Meadow Heights, Valle and Ste. Genevieve, Saxony, St. Vincent and Perryville High Schools were involved in the activity.

Their gifts went through Toys for Tots to the Division of Family Services.
