Letter to the Editor

Thanks for downtown golf help

To the editor:

On behalf of the Red House Interpretive Center Board I would like to express heartfelt thanks to all who helped make the First Third Annual Louis J. Lorimier Memorial World Famous Downtown Golf Tournament and All You Can Eat Catfish Buffet a success this year.

Thanks goes to the golf tournament committee: Charlie Herbst, Sam Blackwell, Jane Randol Jackson, Chuck Martin and Joe Sullivan.

Special thanks goes out to our sponsors: Southeast Missourian, Bank of America, Cozmo's and Birdieball.com.

This year own official Birdieballs were given to golfers compliments of John Breaker.

Doc Cain and his crew from Port Cape Girardeau did a marvelous job with the catfish buffet.

Don Greenwood provided a colorful rendition of the two golf courses and scorecard.

Red House Center docents and members of the George Drouillard Chapter of the Lewis and Clark Trail Heritage Foundation volunteers were Jane Jackson, Boots Jessup, Patsy Johnson and Georgia Seagraves. Other Red House docents and Red Hats volunteers were Linda Royce, Anne Hutson, Roger McMurry, Steve Pledger, Stan Downs, Jerry Witvoet, Frank Nickell, Ron Allen and Jerry Cummins. Additional George Drouillard Chapter volunteers were Pat Nelson, Sara Curd and John Curd.

Special recognition goes to volunteers Erin Schloss, Timexx Seabaugh, Larry Schloss, Erin Herbst and Sydney Herbst, as well as Cape Girardeau's town crier, Darryl Morgan, who opened the event.

Without the aid of volunteers, organizations and businesses, the Red House Interpretive Center Foundation would not have a made a profit of $525 that will be dedicated to future maintenance of the Red House

Congratulations to our tournament winners: Downtown Course -- Josh McCullough and Chase Silvers, tied for first; Bill Duschell, third. River Campus Course -- George Ganske, first; David Ross and Narvol Randol, tied for second).
