Storytelling

The Cape Girardeau Convention and Visitors Bureau recently announced plans for a storytelling festival for April 4 to 6.

Apparently a similar festival in Jonesborough, Tenn., was wildly successful, drawing 10,000 people (with ticket prices in the $150 range for the full weekend of events).

Cape Girardeau leaders are hoping for a large turnout as well. Several professional storytellers, including Donald Davis, Willy Claflin, Sheila Kay Adams and Dan Keding have been booked.

For a city that hangs its proverbial hat on its thousand tales, a storytelling event such as this seems like a perfect fit for this city. It will be interesting to see if the event is as big here as it was in Jonesborough.
