Parents who teach at home get best results

To the editor:

I found the opinion of the person questioning the qualifications of parents to teach their children at home rather amusing. There is an education crisis in America, and it has to do with public schools and the teachers who work in them.

A degree does not qualify anyone to be an educator. Being a parent does, although many parents refuse to accept that responsibility.

Like it or not, everyone home schools, some on a part-time basis, some on a full-time basis. Children who receive a full-time home education do much better than the rest. Here's a fact: Homeschoolers receive a higher quality education than those who attend public schools. Homeschoolers also receive higher test scores than there counterparts in public schools.
